FAQs

I'd like to join HRCU. How do I know if I'm eligible to join?
If you live or work in the State of New Hampshire, you are eligible to join. It's as easy as that.

What fees do you charge?
A complete list of fees can be found here.

I have $1000. How much will I make in a 6 month CD?
There is a site online that has all kinds of different financial calculators. Click here to open a new browser window and go there.

I'm interested in your Share Certificates. What are your rates and terms?
Click here for our online rate sheet.

Do you sell travelers checks? How much are they?
Yes we do sell American Express Travelers Checks. The one signature checks are $1 per $100. The two signature checks cost 1% of the face value of the checks.

I'm concerned about retirement. Do you have Individual Retirement Accounts?
Currently we have an IRA Variable Rate share account and IRA Share Certificates. Click here for the current rates.

I'm having trouble balancing my checking (share draft) account. Can you help me?
Yes we can. We periodically have "balance your checkbook" classes. Some of the tips we give out from that class are listed here. If you can't attend one of our classes, our best advice is to look at the back of your statement for help, or try one of those computer checkbook programs, like Quicken or Microsoft Money. If all else fails, we can help you personally here at the credit union. Just give us a call.

How much money do I have to keep in my checking (share draft) account to avoid paying a fee, and how much is the fee?
In order to avoid a fee, you need to keep at least $100 in your checking account for the entire month. The fee is $5 and is charged on the last day of the month.

Can I buy savings bonds at the Credit Union?
Yes you can! You can also cash savings bonds here as well. (Soon we hope to be able to process your savings bond order online!)

What's a "Series I" savings bond?
The Series I savings bonds are new. Instead of paying 1/2 the face value of the bond (like series "EE"), you now pay the full face value with a series "I" bond. The benefit is that interest is being earned on the bond from the day you bought it, and you may redeem the bond at any time after one year.

Why isn't my debit card working?
We find that the biggest reason a debit card doesn't work is because you have exceeded your monetary limit for the day. The card can be used for ATM transactions up to $400 per day and for point of sale purchases up to $1000 per day. The business day for the debit card is from 4:00 p.m. to 3:59 p.m. the next day. the next day. This policy protects you if someone steals your card.

How much are safe deposit boxes?
Pricing on safe deposit boxes varies by size. Our smallest box (3" x 5") is only $20 per year, and our largest box (10" x 10") is $80 per year.

I need your routing number for direct deposit.
Our routing number (also referred to as an R/T) is 2114-8966-9.

Can I sign up for payroll deduction or direct deposit?
Of course you can! For most companies, you'll want to go directly to their payroll office for assistance. If you do work for one of the companies that we are affiliated with (City of Rochester, Lydall, Enterasys, etc.) we can take the paperwork and forward it to those companies for you.
