Rochester, NH –The Homeless Center for Strafford County (HCSC) recently announced it has received matching $10,000 contributions towards their new building capital campaign from Mid-City Realty and HRCU. The new shelter will be constructed on Washington Street in Rochester. The commitment from HRCU came after Dr. Raymond Laurion, President & Owner of Mid-City Realty, challenged businesses gathered at the HCSC’s 20th Anniversary Gala to a one-time $10,000 matching contribution.

"The support we have received from our community businesses has been a huge boost to the shelter project and we are very grateful for the Mid-City Realty match challenge and the almost instant response and commitment that we received from HRCU at the 20th Anniversary Gala," said Tracy Hardekopf, Executive Director of HCSC.

“We have been supporters of the Homeless Center for Strafford County for many years and have always been impressed with the level of services they provide our community.” Said Brian Hughes President and CEO of HRCU. “The opportunity to make this donation and partner with the Laurion family and Mid-City Realty was something we felt really good about. “

On August 14th, HRCU and the Laurion Family met at the site that will be the new home of the HCSC and presented their checks to the shelter’s leadership. This new shelter is expected to be completed in the fall of 2021.Brian Therrien, Treasurer of HCSC and CFO at HRCU said, “This project is vital to helping the Homeless Center for Strafford County fulfill its mission to help residents build life skills needed in order to regain independence. We are all excited about the project.”
