ROCHESTER, NH – HRCU has presented 28 donations totaling over $40,000 to local non-profits to complete their fifth-annual Christmas Caring Campaign. This year the campaign also included eight first-time recipients. Major causes that the receiving organizations focus on include homelessness, veterans, youth support, meal services, senior care and addiction recovery.
The Christmas Caring Campaign began at HRCU in 2014 when HRCU decided that rather than decorate the branches for the holidays, they would use the funds to make a real difference by aiding organizations in the surrounding community. In addition to monetary donations, the Christmas Caring Campaign allows HRCU staff to learn more about the work these groups do to help those in need all year long. The annual campaign has grown significantly in a short period of time.
"To visit with these organizations and learn more about the work they are doing and how these funds may help them out is a heart-warming experience," said HRCU President and CEO Brian Hughes. "Some on our staff already volunteer with these organizations, but for others I think it is a great experience to see first-hand the work these organizations do."
The Christmas Caring Campaign has become a yearly staple at HRCU and is something they plan on continuing with in the future.
"Our hope is that we can keep growing the campaign," said Hughes. "The continued success of HRCU and the support from our community and membership goes a long way to help these organizations. We take a lot of pride in giving back."
