This December, HRCU donated to 30 local non-profit organizations as a part of their 7th-annual Christmas Caring Campaign (CCC). Since the CCC began in 2014, HRCU has now made a total of 158 donations totaling over $195,000. Due to the pandemic, this was a challenging year presenting the non-profits with checks, which HRCU staff had traditionally done in-person. Instead, HRCU took to social media and the USPS to present the non-profits with their checks.
“We are grateful to all these organizations that work tirelessly in our community to help others. On behalf of our members, board, committee volunteers and staff. Thank you for all you do.”, said Brian Hughes, HRCU President and CEO.
This year included four non-profits who were part of the CCC for the first time: House of Hope (Berwick ME), York County Community Action Corporation (Sanford ME), The Chase Home for Children (Portsmouth NH) and Red’s Good Vibes (Greenland, NH). Additionally, due to challenges collecting toys at branches this year, monetary donations were made to the toy drives of the Rochester, Dover and Farmington NH fire departments.
